During the week of Paddle to Squaxin 2012 the Department of Public Safety and Justice provided security, EMS, traffic control, and law and order. John Taylor activated the Emergency Operation Center which ran 24/7 during the event. The Department of PS&J worked in conjunction with Mike Foster and his IEI Security Staff to provide security for the campgrounds, parking lots, canoe parking, the “trail,” the protocol and dining tent area and everywhere else on the reservation. John Taylor, who is a certified EMT also provided medical assistance throughout the week, especially during the health clinic/medical tent off hours. Police responded to over 300 calls for service on top of the many other duties that were assigned to the officers throughout the week.
